What kind of education do we need in a world transformed by AI ?

Rethinking How We Learn In the Digital Age

AI, Education, and Peace

Welcome to our new series on AI, Education, and Peace, a monthly publication edited by Prof. Dr. Stephanie Knox Steiner and Alissa Chmiel.

In this ongoing exploration, we examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping education, not as a tool, but as a force that challenges what learning is, who it serves, and how it shapes human development in times of democratic fragility and global crisis.

Across this series, we will question the role of education in an age of automation and widening inequalities. We will explore transrational and relational pedagogies, the creative and spiritual dimensions of AI, the limits and possibilities of AI and the pressing role for critical media literacy in education, and more.

Rather than asking only what AI can do for education, we ask a deeper question: What kind of education do we need in a world transformed by AI, and what futures do we want it to serve?
